President’s Message

As President of Kiwanis for 2015-2016, it is my personal goal to make this remarkable club and everything that we do known to all in this great city of Quinte west.
Kiwanis International motto is “ Serving the Children of the World “Trenton Kiwanis motto is Serving the children of Quinte West.

And how we achieve this is by the following:

  • To give dominance to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.
  • To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
  • To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional principles.
  • To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.
  • To provide, through our Trenton Kiwanis club, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to help build a better community in Quinte West.
  • To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Last year we issued over $ 120,000.00 thousand dollars for the Children of Quinte West, in joint sponsorships with community sports like soccer, football, hockey, and also with educational enhancements with scholarships and donations, and support of local charities like the salvation army, and our very own Quinte West Fire department coat for kids.

The City of Quinte West has had the Kiwanis club of Trenton helping them for over 65 years. We need the City of Quinte west to let us know how we can continue to help the children of the city of Quinte West, as time changes and our generation fades away and a new generation emerges with different technology, we need fresh faces and fresh ideas to move our great community service into the future to serve our city’s children.

Unfortunately we live in what most people claim to be Fatherless generation, a lot of children are growing up in families that can’t afford nor have the means to provide their children access to community sports or educational growth. The Trenton Kiwanis club decides for themselves what projects to do in our community, based on our own community’s needs and our members’ interests. Service to children is a primary focus for us. We are encouraged to conduct a community survey each year to determine what unmet needs exist in our community of Quinte west, and then we try to meet the need.

How we do this is by raising money for the unmet needs. Trenton Kiwanis club puts forward 3 major fundraisers to meet the needs of the City of Quinte West each year.

  • First is the Kiwanis GOLF CLASSIC
  • And last but not least is the Walleye Fishing Derby run by President Elect Remco de Gooyer and his committee.

Please consider supporting or serving the Trenton Kiwanis Club by either membership or by letting us know how we can help, or how you can help.
